Received notification from my MDM that Apple changed their policy and third party apps will no longer run in the background. This means my devices will no longer sync to my MDM server. How is everyone dealing with this?

MDM doesn't need an app to

Your rating: None

MDM doesn't need an app to check in with the server. Some MDM providers install an app to add on non-standard features, most commonly push notifications and geolocation. Push notifications will work whether the app is "running" or not. Geolocation works only if the app is running. But geolocation runs down your battery real quick!

Apple doesn't allow every app to do much in the background. But it does allow location services to keep running. I haven't heard of a change in policy from this.
