Not positive if this is the correct head forum topic for this but...

I'm wondering which iPad cases you use and why you chose that one.

We started with 300 iPad 4's and the Apple case. They worked pretty good, we had very few broken screens. Apple stopped production on the rubber case and now only have the leather ones. We ordered 700 more iPad Airs, and in haste, ordered a case from Jison. It is not the best case, and we are experience a very high breakage rate.

We are finding that cases are either very rugged (protective), but not full featured as in ways to prop up, easy access to buttons, etc. OR the case is full featured, but not very rugged.

Have you found a case that is both very protective yet has good prop and access to iPad features?

Thanks,
Dan

Not sure this is offers the level of protection you would like but I've heard good things about the "CaseCrown Omni" iPad Air case.

Wirecutter has a good review: http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-ipad-air-case/

our cases

we are a K-12 school district and we have two cases we use:

Targus Versavu™ iPad Air Rotating Stand Case - Black (THZ196EU): we bought a bunch of these for a hand full of ipad airs. in my opinion they are horrible. one of the best and worst features is that they can rotate 360 degrees. the down side is that it rotates so freely that it can spin out of your hand. that has cost us a couple of cracked LCDs. one good point is that it is very sleek and thin. that down side is the the sleek and this design combined with a very smooth texture make it hard to hold on to. they just slip out of your hand. now aside from all the things i dont like about them, they are a user friendly full featured case with easy access to all the buttons and ports.

For our fleet of 500 student iPads (9th grade only so far) we went with the Griffin Survivor case. this case if very protective, but is also a bit bulky. however this bulk, combined with a grippy rubber exterior make it easy to cary. rubber flaps that cover the camera, speakers, charging port, and silent/rotation lock switch keep out dust and debris. Griffin claims it will survive a six foot fall onto flat concrete on any edge and i believe them. the only weak area, as it is with every other iPad case out there, is the screen itself. there is a built in screen protector and that saves from scratches, but any hard impacts to the screen area will crack the LCD.

Great info!

Thanks for the replies and info, this is the stuff I'm looking for!

The CaseCrown Omni seems very similar to the Jison case we are currently using for our iPad Airs

I'm going to investigate the Griffin Survivor a little more...

First year trial of an iPad program here. We chose Otterbox Defender cases. They are very similar to the Griffin Survivor, but were much cheaper due to a sale. They come with a cover that has a pretty good stand integrated, allowing for a somewhat shallow typing angle on the table or a steep media viewing angle. The stand is the most frequent point of breakage though, around 4 of the 80 have broken so far this year. The case is chunky enough on its own, and with the cover placed it's one of the thickest iPad cases. If you want a sync cart, only the Spectrum Industries InTouch sync cart has wide enough slots to fit iPad 4s with cover attached.
Others we've looked at, but not tried
Joy Factory aXtion Bold cheaper case in Defender/Survivor style http://amzn.com/B00G2BXBG6
Clamcase Pro if your school wants to burn money. It looks nice, but it's $160 http://clamcase.com
Airbender Pro a far more reasonable keyboard case, with some rubber for drop protection http://www.newtrent.com/store/ipad-case/airbender-pro-nt610kr.html

The new STM DUX is a beauty, they've struck the balance of weight vs durability perfectly in my opinion. We're replacing all the cases in our roll out with these.

I really want the STM DUX case for our iPads, but unfortunately they are not on NYS contract (yet). Also, the cost per case was considerably lower if buying a large quantity direct from STM. Great customer service and sales too.

Here are some vids:

Anyone heard of these cases?

I can't find any reviews, but apparently are on NYS contract. Might end up with these.

Great news! Heather at STM worked hard for us to be able to purchase the STM Dux cases. They are now available through Apple! We received our demo case yesterday and immediately made the decision to purchase these cases for our existing iPads, replacing 300 Apple Smart and 700 Jison cases. We are hoping to stop the screen breakage or at least minimize it.

Thanks again Funkaround!

Low cost cases..

Your rating: None

If you are looking for low cost cases that actually have a plastic case center and then a rubberized outer covering, we went with the Protektor case from Rugged Protection for our 3500 1-1 Student units.

For the cost we paid they actually are quite good and the company is decent to deal with..Not an Otterbox but not half bad...

Most iPad users would love to find a case for thier device as they value it and they never want their beloved iPad to be scratched or damaged through normal wear and tear. However, there are like thousands of cases for iPad in the market from various brands with different styles and qualities. Finding a case that suits your style and has decent quality to protect your iPad is not an easy task and it may take a very long time. How to find the best iPad Cases

Your rating: None

Hi Guys, new to the forum here, hoping to help and integrate Smile

From my experience it takes a while to figure out which cases are going to be the best for your schools. I would recommend getting a sample of each, and testing them all out on an iPad in an actual use situation, for at least a week.

This will let you know whether they are going to suit what you are looking for in a case, in terms of durability, functionality, and aesthetics.

Any questions, I'm happy to help Smile
