Excellent start. Thanks for discovering these!

Wrong user agent string
I have an iPhone 4 with iOS 5.1.1, which returns the following User Agent String

Any iPhone running 5.1.1
Any iPhone running 5.1.1 should report 9B206, which is what displayed in your string.

Ok, thank you. I was looking for a User Agent String which could tell me the exact device model, which could help me discover available hardware (screen size, camera etc).
I just discovered this Wiki, looks interesting.

Great Information.
I've been looking to detect exact apple devices and this is a great start for doing it, though where are you getting this line of information from Apple-iPhone3C1/801.400
The useragents I am using only have the Build Number in them, which by itself only tells the iOS version number.
Any info/advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Great blog - a few more useragent strings
Hi,
I found this really useful to determine the iOS version on the 10000+ iOS devices on our exchange. Thanks.
A few additional useragent strings that are in the logs but not on the blog - hoping the community can help me identify them:
Apple-iPad2C2/901.405
Apple-iPad2C4/902.206
Apple-iPad2C5/1001.523
Apple-iPad3C3/1002.510500003
Apple-iPad3C4/1001.523
Apple-iPhone/507.77
Apple-iPhone3C1/1002.510500003
Apple-iPhone3C1/806.190
Apple-iPhone3C1/902.208
Apple-iPhone5C2/1002.510500003

Are these details only available through activesync?
Can you elaborate on how activesync obtains the prefix besides the UA header? Sorry for asking something that is potentially obvious. Does the apple device provide this information? I would love to be able to capture this prefix when a web visit is performed to one of my sites.
Thanks!
John

John- I'm not 100% sure what
John-
I'm not 100% sure what properties ActiveSync uses to compile it's "Version" for the device. However, here is what I've used to get my head around it:
iOS Hashes, ie: 10A523 - Obtained from iOS direct download links. Each device typically has a link to the associated download, which contains the hash.
iOS Hash to Numeric Conversion - 10 A (01).523
iOS Numeric to Version Conversion - I've used scripts like http://www.onesimplescript.com/2011/11/reporting-on-apple-ios-activesync.html to build a spreadsheet that I update each time a new version is released.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IOS_version_history is also useful.
Hope that helps a little!

Updating this list
Very useful, I would like to update the list but have no clue how to identify which user agent is what device / iOS ?
I couldn't find any direct information about this, i have for example a device with useragent Apple-iPad3C4/1001.523, which is not yet updated in the list.
Is this information somewhere available ?

Fiction?
As far as I can tell, the useragents listed in this post do not exist.
Apple device User agent strings look like this:
Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 6_1_3 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/536.26 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/6.0 Mobile/10B329 Safari/8536.25
There is no way to know if this came from an iphone 5 or an iphone 4 for example.
There is nothing like this:
Apple-iPhone5C1/1001.525
As far as I can tell, there is no way to tell the device from the user agent string, only the OS and device type.
Is this post from an alternative universe, or I am I missing something?
Thanks!

Can't find them either
Hey guys,
Unfortunately, like littlej commenting above, I can't find these either. Are they supposed to be in the actual User Agent string?
Would be great to have them, any help would be greatly appreciated
Cheers,
David

Possible to retrieve outside of ActiveSync?
Thanks for clarifying, John Payne! Even though it had already been mentioned in the comments, I had somehow managed to miss that.
So - does anyone know if there is a way to retrieve this device model information outside of ActiveSync, i.e. for regular web page visits?
Any clues here would be most appreciated!
Cheers,
David
